Transforming the Programme Building, Bristol

Announcements 21st July, 2021

We recently completed a major refurbishment of the iconic Programme Building in Bristol’s city centre. This project highlights our expertise in delivering functional, high-quality spaces while working through the challenges of an occupied building during the COVID pandemic.

CAT A Spaces: Flexible and Modern

On levels 5, 6, and 7, we converted 50,000 square feet into modern CAT A space. Beginning with a full strip-out to shell and core, we carried out structural repairs, installed exposed services, and upgraded all mechanical and electrical systems. Resin flooring and new decor add a modern touch, creating a flexible, tenant-ready space that complements the building’s industrial aesthetic.

Roof and Core Upgrades: Precision and Efficiency

The roof works spanned 16,000 square feet, requiring the installation of new plant decks and over 130 tonnes of craned steelwork. We executed the structural changes while maintaining the building’s waterproofing, ensuring uninterrupted operation for the building’s occupants. In the core areas, we installed mechanical risers to support the building’s updated systems, and completed the fit-out of WCs with feature ceilings. These upgrades were undertaken with precision, enhancing both the visual appeal and operational efficiency of the building.

Urban Terrace: Outdoor Functionality

At podium level, we transformed a former car park into a vibrant ‘Urban Terrace.’ We resolved longstanding waterproofing issues using a Triflex overlay. Cycle storage, feature lighting, and custom railings now add functionality and appeal, making this outdoor area an inviting space for building users.

Throughout the refurbishment, we prioritised improvements for long-term performance, including updates to mechanical systems and roofing. By aligning these technical upgrades with sustainability goals, we ensured the building meets modern standards for both the environment and future tenants.
