Sustainability process
Our Sustainability Process is our commitment to embedding environmental and social responsibility into every phase of construction.
We focus on reducing environmental impact and maximising social value from start to finish. From preconstruction to post completion, we prioritise reuse, recycling, community engagement, and sustainable practices to minimise our environmental footprint and maximise social value.
Through collaboration with clients, charities, and local communities, we set and track ambitious targets, ensuring every project leaves a lasting, positive impact. Here’s how we achieve this, phase by phase.
-
Pre-demolition/strip out audit of the site is conducted to determine our reuse and recycling strategy.
Contact our network of charities with the list of items that we have for reuse, alternatively use our strip out partners to store and use within our site set up/ within other projects.
Create our social value strategy with the client team, creating targets that align with the TOMs framework as well as the client’s individual strategy.
Low carbon alternatives – Review the specification for potential LCA’s the client may wish to explore.
Review the specification to ensure it meets the building certification standards.
-
We commit to buy used site set up products and materials unless absolutely necessary. We also should explore using items from our other sites or via our strip out partners who have a stock of these items.
Set us up on our Qualis Flow software to track all of our deliveries and waste transfers for the project.
Zero single use plastic policy enforced within site welfare.
Reach out to labour agencies and job centres to determine if we can offer any vacancies for the project to local people.
Sustainability targets – we conduct pre-start meetings with all subcontractors to ensure they are aware of our sustainability targets and briefed to what we want to achieve for the project.
-
Monthly meter readings for electricity and water consumption with reviews on how to improve efficiency.
All social value initiatives are tracked via the TOMs framework or another pre-determined methodology.
Monthly reports detailing our:
- Progress on any certifications
- Waste and reuse figures
- Energy and water consumption
- Any new low-carbon options
- Our social value initiatives
Quarterly newsletters will be produced for the local stakeholders informing them on the site progress, our social and environmental progress, and any upcoming works which may affect them.
-
You will receive a full environmental and social impact report detailing the impact that your project has had. This will include case studies and full breakdown on the carbon emissions
from the construction phase.
- Transport of materials emissions calculated
- Transport of waste emissions calculated
- Operatives travel to site emissions calculated
- Electricity use emissions calculated
- Water use emissions calculated
Assessing carbon – We will also keep all delivery notes, scanned in on our Qualis Flow portal which will allow you to retrospectively produce a full carbon assessment should you request one.
Social value case study with progress against the predetermined targets set out within the pre-start.
-
Ambit will keep in close contact with any charities that we have worked with during the project, and look for potential opportunities to help again in the future.
